PRACTICALS IN LOW TEMPERATURE PLASTIC SPLINTS ON 7TH MAY 2017
On the occasion of 15th Anniversary of Prayatna Centre for Child Development, Kerala Branch of All India Occupational Therapist Association (KBAIOTA), conducted a Workshop and conference on â€˜Practicals in low temperature plastic splints on 7th May 2017â€™ at Prayatna Centre for child development Cochin, Kerala.
Around 15 delegates from the field of Occupational Therapy utilized the opportunity.
The Workshop and Conference inaugurated by Dr Joseph Sunny, Director, Prayatna in presence of Dr Shovan Saha, Associate professor, Department of Occupational Therapy Manipal University.
The topic was informative one resourced by Dr Shovan Saha.
The main objective of the training programme was to understand the features and properties of low temperature plastic, handle techniques and mould making.
The programme consists of two phases, the theory part and the practical session.
In the theory part, resource person introduced low temperature plastics, its usability and physical nature along with chemical formula.
In practical session, Dr Saha demonstrated how to use low temperature plastics as splints and created moulds along with the participants.
It concluded as an appreciable good work to remind the importance of low temperature plastics Occupational Therapy and there was general agreement among the participants that use of plastic splints in Occupational Therapy field is really important. It will be a model to us to conduct similar programmes in coming days.
We are planning for a future live workshop in splinting also.
Kerala Branch of All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (KBAIOTA) is an organization formed by the Occupational Therapy practitioners from Kerala to support and nurture the study and practice of Occupational Therapy in Kerala, it is the branch of the All India Occupational Therapists Association ( AIOTA ) in Kerala.
